Something interesting about that Guy. If you look at aerials, there was no clearing or roads up to the mountain at all even in the 1940 aerials. It would be very interesting to actually see a story about that practice range. One with dates, photos, locations, etc.

I have a speculative theory on that Boyd. I was told one time whenever you see gouges like that, a company was trying to determine if mining for the type of sand they wanted was in that area. Just a guess on my point.

I don't know Guy. Looks more to me like something very heavy made an impression on the ground. I understand it's a long shot, but I don't think it has anything to do with practicing to make a firebreak. They use a specific blade for that. What if they needed to take a track off of a bulldozer...
