    Labor Day Canoe Trip

That is hilarious Tom. City folk if I've ever seen any. What did you do, buy 6 of those Bud Light 30 packs? I'll bet they really were as limp as noodles at the end of the run.

Tom, that looks like a fine, robust speciman of Solidago puberula, a member of the Asteraceae family. The common name is Dusty Goldenrod.

Lateral sepals are hard to explain on a Xyris species Tom. Sepals are usually below the petals, so looking down on that Xyris, you won't see them. You have to be looking horizontally at the spike of flowers. Look at this sketch. The lateral sepal shape of this one is to the left of the 2/3...

    bay days

Absolutely outstanding boys! I wish I could go with you sometimes. Where were you in the first set of photos? I'd like to see that meadow where all the flower heads are.

Very cool Ben. I think that Pines one is either Double Trouble like you say, or Tuckerton or Forked River. I have seen that photo before. The long shaft in the Georgia photo is exactly like the one Guy, Chris, and I found at Warren Grove. PS: In post number 2, first photo. Look at that...

    Windows 98

I have an unopened package of Windows 98. What should I ask at a Yard Sale? I see some developers still use it. Should I sell it on Ebay instead? Should I trash it?

    Music for the day

Very nice Bill. I am a big Moody Blues fan. First 45 record I bought was Tuesday Afternoon. Both videos were excellant. I really liked the first one. I don't usually go for female artists, but every so often a woman comes along and really presses my button in many ways. Kate Earl does that...

Xyris difformis (most likely. A hard genus to pinpoint without a scope, but the habit is right). I don't see it as X. caroliniana. The shape is not right, and I don't see any fringe from the lateral sepals.

    The big Burn

I love debating ideas and topics JD, it makes life interesting. But sometimes its not what you say but how you say it. I usually do not "fail" to understand things unless its a complex topic like Partial Differential equations (or the person does not explain something to me so I can understand it).
