    Timber Rattler Sighting

There is another common misconception in the article too, right Al? I'm surprised at Fish and Game-and the Supervisor no less.

    Timber Rattler Sighting

I am fairly certain that is a pine snake Tom. Basically harmless to us. If you do see a rattler, it is not healthy to straddle them.

    Cedar Planting

I wanna save my back! :) We should all get dressed up like the Italian Cranberry workers from yesteryear in Whitesbog and go on out there. I'll put on a wool suit with a white shirt and tie. Jess can get one of those big aprons and a headscarf and stuff her shirt with 2 watermelons.

    Old Bridge Pine Barrens?

Whats the story with Staten Island? Can people who live there claim New York City status? Is in an undesirable place to live? Wasn't there a huge dump there?

    Old Bridge Pine Barrens?

Hmmm, interesting. I was born in Perth Amboy. Maybe I can say I'm a piney after all.

    New fire roads Warren Grove

I know, that was over the top-sorry. But I still strongly dislike the fire service cutting new roads in the woods. There are plenty of access points as it is. As to scorching and crown fires, we need them once in awhile. Good, hot burns. Lets live "with" the pines, not "fight" them every...

Now you have two pine plains properties? I'd love to know where they are. Can you PM me if you don't want to pinpoint them here?

    New fire roads Warren Grove

Sniff......! Why is it that the Fire Service cannot handle wilderness, why do they over-react? Doesn't it seem that they hate the woods, hate the Pines? Why do they have a one-track mind?

Great music for driving to and from your kayak/canoe spot.

Good stuff. I borrowed "Don't Shoot me, I'm only the Piano Player" from the library. One of his best. Many great songs on that one too. Especially.."Have Mercy on the Criminal".

One mother of an ore pond and something else?

You are quite right my friend. My mistake. That Lower Mill was a good trip with a novel ending.

One mother of an ore pond and something else?

Jeff will be "leading" his first PBX trip? Say yes.

'It seemed to be a body from WWII'

Wow is right. Very intriguing. A PBX'r would have checked it out close up.

    Good one Al!

One mother of an ore pond and something else?

Yes, that would account for it. Fugitives from elsewhere. The aster was most likely Aster nemoralis (bog aster).

One mother of an ore pond and something else?

Gee Jeff, you beat me to it. I always wanted to visit that bog. You were here, right? That is odd you saw Lobelia cardinalis like German says. It shouldn't be way out there, though we do see it on the Mullica down by Gabes. Was it intensely red color?

Two Wheelin In The Pines ?

A trick for you guys who do 2 wheelin in the pines is to keep a large 30" piece of asphalt roof shingle in your trunk. That or a wire shelf from an old oven. Either under the wheels after a short dig and a car jack often saves the day.
