    New Kayak

If you go on a weekday now, there should be no crowds on those streams. Things would be so much quieter if the gunwales of aluminum canoes had rubber padding. You can hear them coming for a quarter mile. PS: never say never.

    Webb's Mill Bog

I'm sorry. I think what we need is a group picnic somewhere, so I can put faces with names. I am dense like that. After I left your motley crew I said to myself..."damn, it would have been fun to get a group shot of them". Which of you did I meet at the snake guy's exhibit at the Pine Barren...

    Webb's Mill Bog

That does happen. The main lodge is on the next road east. It happened about 6 years ago and someone knocked the lodge down. That is only a temporary fix.

    closed to public

I disagree with keeping teens from swimming as long as they walk back there, and that is what they were doing. What they did by blocking all access is over the top. If they want to bust them once in awhile for drinking and trashing it up back there to give them a lesson until they understand...

    closed to public

I know the road because 4 weeks ago I went by and a gaggle of about 12 teens had gotten out of cars and were heading back to swim. The next time I went by last weekend it was closed off to the public. As you approach the Lake from Nixons Store side, its the access road before the curve on your...

    Coyote puppies

That is way cool Bill. No kidding. I also heard a construction vehicle backing up as well as distant traffic. What time was it?

    barren nights

There is something that really grabs me about that 1:23 PM road shot. Tell me more about that one. Where was it, and what did you do digitally to jazz it up? It reminds me of that area between Friendship and the railroad, which I really like. It has that "sparse" look-the real pine barrens...

Batsto and Atsion: A Quick Saturday Adventure

I must have just missed you Ben. I went from Apple Pie to Basto, all through the woods. I saw Chris (dragoncjo) at the railroad trestle on Carranza. He and a hardy looking crew were looking for reptiles to photograph. I was at Quaker Bridge eating at about 12:30 or so. It takes a long time to...

    cat for safe adoption

Or because of it. I swear though, when Scott pulled out that cold, dark bottle of joy juice a couple weeks ago....I looked around for a cot to spend the nite on, cause I knew if I took one sip, that would be it.....fill 'er up!

    onPoint Tactical

You are right on target Mark. You'll make it to a road, and then stay on that road, 99% of the time it will get you out. I use this technique all the time. The only time I worry is if I think I "may" be heading down a river course swamp. You won't hit a road for awhile in many of those cases...

That is an insect trap James. Did you take that photo by Webbs Mill just off 539? I like the tractors.

    Bass river construction....

I saw something similar near New Gretna a few weeks ago. I was just poking around, don't even know how I got where I was, but I ended up going East on the road that has the champaign bottle. Instead of getting on the parkway South I turned left at the last moment and ended up on a bumpy dirt...

    Farewell to Olga's

Best breakfast I ever had was at Vincetown Diner about 2 years ago. The serving was just large enough, the food fresh and tasty, and the service perfect. It was a sausage and cheese omelet with peppers along with wheat toast and home fries, plus 3 cups of perfect coffee. Plus, the place was...

    Webb's Mill Bog

Rozecki, it is part of Greenwood Forest. I first visited it 29 years ago. At that time is was just a bunch of wooden pallets kind of strung together on the ground. It was created by someone scraping off the top layer of duff and moss to expose and area of white sand that water continually...
