Thanks for posting this John, but I really don't get what they are doing here. The land was supposed to be left to nature, not man's manipulations. Whatever changes we see there, are because of man, so now man feels he has to manage it to suit himself. I don't subscribe to this kind of stuff...

Though hot, we had a great day. That is such a wonderfully primitive area. Here is a bird Guy saw. It was about 150 yards from us, so this is the best my camera could do. I think it might be a green heron?

One more thing. The actual stream corridor for Cedar Creek is very narrow, not many (if any) flood plains where water can sit in vegetation for quite awhile (picking up more tannins) before being flushed out to the river.

Mark, I admit the PH scale can be confusing the way it was set up, but didn't you mean a "lower" PH decreases biological productivity? And would it be more correct to say less iron means more biological activity? I can attest to Cedar Creek being very much spring fed. Plus, it is much shorter...
