Two indicted on charges of vandalizing Carranza Memorial

From the front page of the Burlington County Times, Wednesday Feb. 2, 2005: An 18-year old from Mount Laurel and a 22-year old from Washington Township, Gloucester County were indicted by a county grand jury on one count each of bias intimidation and criminal mischief. The newspaper does...

    mt .misery rd

Mt. Misery and Sooy Place are both Methodist camps. I don't know much about the history of Mt. Misery, but the Delanco Camp at Sooy Place was originally in the town of Delanco. On Burlington Ave. in Delanco there is a small shopping center with a 7-11 and the post office called "Camp Meeting...

    new camera

I agree with you. There's nothing like using a SLR camera and matching it up with the perfect lens for your application. However, I still like the simplicity of digital. I think my next camera may be a digital SLR. Mark

    new camera

Renee, I see this message thread is about 8 months old, so I hope you have been getting months of good use out of your camera. I purchased the Coolpix 5000 back in 2002. The Coolpix 5000 is very similar to your camera except it only has a 3x optical zoom. I think 3x is a little weak and I...

    Zillions of pictures!

As with everything else, you only get what you pay for when it comes to digital cameras. Nikon makes a real nice camera for the serious amateur called the Coolpix 8700. It's 8 megapixels and has an 8x optical zoom, but it will set you back around $700 or $800. Mark

    Hampton Furnace

Thanks, TeeGate. I'll have to try that the next time I'm down that way.

    Hampton Furnace

Thanks for the quick response! It just didn't look the same to me as the two pictures in the image gallery here. Maybe it was a different angle or something. Plus, the big, tall weeds were missing.

    Carranza Memorial in wraps

I spent Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of Atsion and Hampton Furnace. The nuisanse-of-the-day down that way was those darn green head flies.

    Yahoo

Yahoo has been working fine for me all weekend. Believe it or not, I have been having problems with Google. I'll type in www.google.com and get an error message that the page can't be displayed. A little later it is working fine again. Google must be having intermittent outages.

    Hampton Furnace

I went looking for Hampton Furnace Saturday afternoon. I found some ruins, but I'm not sure whether they're Hampton Furnace or not. I don't want to give out too much information and break any board rules. I followed the road that is supposed to lead back to Hampton Furnace. I followed it back...

    Carranza Memorial in wraps

I passed by the Carranza Memorial late this afternoon (Thursday June 17th) and the tarp was gone. It looks like someone made an honest attempt to remove the graffiti, but some of it was still readable. I can tell you the one narrow side written in Spanish did have a swastika spray painted on...

Story in Burlington County Times June 14th, 2004

There was a real nice story in the Burlington County Times on Monday, June 14th, 2004. The story wasn't in the paper itself, but in an insert called "Vitality." The cover of "Vitality" has a picture of Doris Boyd. The story inside talks about Howard and Doris Boyd, a.k.a. "The King and Queen...

    New to this message board

Thanks for the info, Bruset. This is really a nice website you have here. (You are the webmaster, aren't you?) I was just past Buzby's this past Sunday and I can kick myself in the butt for not stopping and going inside. I'll have to see if I can make it back this weekend and pick up a copy...

    New to this message board

Hi everybody. I am new to this message board and this is my first post. I would like to get started exploring the Pine Barrens. My main interest will be lost towns, ruins, and remains. I was just wondering if there was anywhere I could pick up a reference book or a map that listed the lost...
