    How much do they weigh?

    Railroaded

You could probably double that figure as this unused line runs all the way to Lakehurst. Ken

    Railroaded

This is the second time in this area. The first was right in Chatsworth. They, the operative word, worked for NJ Transit and used the company vehicle to take the tracks that once were in Chatsworth. They also got caught :-)

Railroad tracks from Woodmansie to Lakehurst

Guy, Yes - Plenty of maintenance on those tracks will be required. Not just ballast either. We have heard from a very reliable source that Clayton will be using rail to ship once again. I has inquired about the tracks many years ago and a state worker, who was in the area, told me that...

    Union Transportation Company

I remember the group trying to use photoshop to straighten them out without any success. Too bad. It would have been nice. Here's another chance for before and after. Catch them working on the line cutting trees and vegitation down now and take pictures before they do the work. You will have...

    Union Transportation Company

Here's the latest from a railfan on one of our forums: "Learned at a meeting with the Ocean County Transportation Board last night: Mr. William Clayton, Jr. has confirmed that his company is planning to resume operation of sand trains from Woodmansie to Lakehurst. Service is planned to...

    Union Transportation Company

Guy, Spoke to some locals this morning but nobody can confirm what's going on. Currently there are two rumors. One is that Clayton, who currently owns the tracks from his sandpit up to RT539, I believe is going to start rail service. I here he has met with official with NJ Transit. The...

Guy, Some very interesting events occurring on the old CNJ Southern Division at Woodmansie. Not sure what the clearing is all about but I'm heading down there this morning to investigate: http://railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31458&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

It's located right in the lobby. There's also a nice painting of the Blue Comet on the outside of the mens room at a lake that's close by. I'll try and find the picture and directions. Ken

    How A Forest Was Saved

Guy, I understand about the price of the book but if you change your mind, I've seen them for as low as $55 dollars brand new. I'm sure there are some on eBay as well. The book covers more than just the RR but how it all started in the Pines with the mines. Some of the names in the book...

    How A Forest Was Saved

Good luck to anyone trying to steal the diamond. It weighs quite a bit. The bank is right in the center of town. I believe it's eCommerce Bank and its right near the gas station. Did you find the turntable there for the Tuckerton RR?

    How A Forest Was Saved

That would be the diamond. It allowed the Pennsy to cross with the CNJ. The Tuckerton RR was just not too far away from there that also had a turntable there. The hole is still there. The bank in Whiting has a nice picture of the station that was there.
