I just found this site that has a layered database that can be placed over satelite images. The site is unintuitive and user antagonistic, but the information is excellent.

http://www.state.nj.us/dep/gis/

Go to interactive mapping and launch I-MAP NJ DEP

An example of Atsion with waterbodies and streams

http://forums.njpinebarrens.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=309&pos=4

To get you started select data layers:

counties
pinelands boundry
roads (GDT)
water bodies
streams
watersheds by name (HUC11)
aerial photos 2002
aerial photos 1995/7
new jersey

The data sometimes comes and goes depending on the magnification, and I haven't figured it out yet, but I think it's worth the trouble.
The state gives a course in it's use in Trenton for $10.00, lunch included.

Have fun,
Ed

A nice map! It basically is the same as Google but adds the road names which can be nice.

All,

I actually used to work for NJ OGIS and was responsible for developing/enhancing some of the map services at the state website. Check out OGIS as well.

Some of these map services are much more intensive that Google's and allow some pretty interesting layers to be added (i.e. rock types, etc).

Just my 2 cents,

Justin
