Can anyone tell me what the woodcrest speed line was before they built the subway station there and parking lot. Was it farmland, upland forest, meadow, swamp? I recently found some interesting wildlife there by the cooper river and was wondering what existed there before they built everything there in 1980. Thanks

I watched them built it but don't remember what it was before that.

Pestletown, N.J.
In 1930, based upon NJDEP aerials, it was adjoining the old railroad in the location of the current tracks today.
The 1930 aerials show a few farmhouse type structures and farm fields.
My sister worked for Hussman right next door in the late 60's.

Thanks, I checked out that 1930's map and it did look like farmland. I was wondering whether it was wetlands since everything along the cooper right there is swampy. Also Scott I saw some big bucks with good size velvet antlers back there. I've seen tracks in haddonfield and lawnside but seeing a have dozen bucks together in haddonfield was a suprising site. I thought bucks are solitary?

They hang in bachelor 'groups' as their antlers develope and the closer to the 'rut' the more they start developing their position in the 'pecking' order until the nights shorten & the velvet dies and they start polishin' their beams & split up to chase doe...
