My cousins live back in a development off of the Black Horse Pike in South Jersey. I believe the name of the development is called Forrest Hills. If you enter the development off of the Black Horse Pike and you drive less than a mile, after passing Balsam Road on your left, there is an opening with a small path. My cousins, brother and I decided one day when we were bored to get our bikes and ride down the path and see where it lead to, since my cousins never went down there while they lived in that house. Half of us were on bikes, while the other half were walking. At the time I was only about 14, leaving my brother at 11, and my cousins at 15, 16, and 17. None of us were scared because we figured it would probably only lead to an open field or to fences of the backyards of another development nearby. Well it turned out to be neither and after we walked/road down the path for a little, we came across a broken down old car. It wasn't a newer model (and I don't even remember what make or model the car was) but all the windows were smashed out and there was bits of glass on the hood of the car and sharp edges still in the windows. The trunk was also popped open but only about 2 inches so none of us could see if anything was inside. None of us went near the car either knowing that any wild animals could have been living in it. But it felt weird seeing and wondering what exactly had happened. We decided to continue down the path some more even though we were a little uneasy about this trip now. At the end of the path was an old house. There was sleeping bags and clothes strewn all over the overgrown front lawn. The house was old and looked completely unstable. There were no windows in the window frames and also no possible way to enter unless we wanted to swim through the weeds that were up to our waists. There was also a barn which was half burned down which gave off an eery feel. Old tractors were still in the field and near the barn as well. There was one more building on the property that I remember. It was small and close to the house. It was possibly a shed with a cellar to it. I remember the cellar because the doors were propped open and at the bottom there was a duffle bag. My oldest cousin started joking that he was going to go down there and get the bag, knowing that we'd all get scared just at the thought of him doing it. There wasn't a lot of graffiti around either. None on the house at all..only some on the barn and cellar all related to the KKK. After just looking at everything, never going inside of even close enough to the buildings, we decided to leave. The walk/ride back down the path was a lot faster than the walk there. I don't know if it was just scary because we were so young or for another reason. I'm not saying I believe the place is haunted because we didn't experience anything what so ever to make me believe that. I also wouldn't advise people to go there either, as you never know who could be hanging out back there. Since then though none of us have been back and that was over 4 years ago, so I'm not sure if anything is still standing back there. I tried to google map it but the only thing that really shows is what looks to be an open field (the field where the house and farm stood) but I can't make out any buildings. To me it looks like it was probably knocked down to make room for new developments.
So I was just wondering if anyone has seen of this place or even been there? If I feel brave enough (as I'm way more scared of this stuff now that I was when I was younger) I'll try to go back with a camera in case the buildings are still up and post them to this thread. But, if anyone who has been here has pictures of this place please post them up too. There might have been things that I forgot since it was so long ago. And if you want to look the place up on google maps just type in Balsam Road, Williamstown NJ. You'll see what looks to be a bunch of sand, and a new development with a road leading to no where. The brown line between Balsam Road and Larch Court is where the path is.
