Jessica and I decided to visit Ace again, especially since in December we learned that the state was planning to demolish the 3 buildings there, most likely for safety concerns. It seemed fitting to see the end result, if any, of Pearl and Charles Myers.
Unfortunately, but most likely realistically, the state did carry through with the demolition. The three building themselves are gone, leaving only the foundations for future Pine Barren explorers to ponder.
At first glance all seems the same with the drainage foundation with their inscribed names still in good shape. But soon reality hits as we meandered down the unused dirt road leading to the buildings. The first building you come to was a storage shed, at one time full of useless junk.
Next the bathrooms, looking recently abandoned when edcampbell stumbled on the place a few years back while kayaking the Nescochague. Here is my newest "Then And Now" photo of this building. Click the photo to make it larger.

Then onto the largest building, apparently the office and garage. The sign announcing the place was at one time on the entrance to this building. My next "Then And Now" photo.

When we had arrived we heard what sounded like a motorcycle riding around in the far back of the property, but it soon faded away, and as we were walking the final stretch back to the road two ATV riders came into view along the road. They quickly turned around and disappeared, and we could hear them circling the property, and soon they were at the building we had just visited. Us again looking at them, and them at us, as we headed home to end the day. The final days had come.
