All,

If you have visited the large granite Alloway (DeMarco) monument at Friendship Bogs this may interest you. Here are the graves of those mentioned on it.

I remember the day I found that monument quite by chance.I seen a white object through the trees and thought someone was camped illegal in a white tent.I stalked it till within maybe 100 ft when I realized it was no tent. I walked up to it and read the monument and walked away a little more aware of local history. First time I ever heard of the name DeMarco.I"d say this was the late 80's.

I've always been somewhat perplexed by the first line on the monument, stating that the cultivated blueberry industry started on that site. This seems to contradict the history commonly presented regarding Elizabeth White and Fredrick Coville, and their work at Whitesbog. The next two sentences, with the phrase "one of the" leaves a little more wiggle room for interpretation.

Well, Garfield may not have wanted his family to be outdone.
