Both Ikey and Billy lived along the South River Road that (
West to East) went from Coopers Mill to the Oasis in New Italy, passing the Lee Ponds (the "Lee Place"), Ikey's Pond (
red circle), the Bears Head Pond, and ending near the Smith-Ireland burial grounds. Bears Head Pond is the head pond on Bear Branch, and is mentioned in Harshberger along with Watering Place Pond, hence the curious moniker.
There were other "caves" in the area, which I'll relate in another post.
