I decided on this title which translates to Burlington and Ocean Counties combined with two trips on Saturday combined with a reshoot of two pics on Sunday, plus some additional pics.

Saturday morning i got to Chatsworth Lake to take a pics of the lake, no battery in camera, so i decided to go back home, about a mile on the way home i had an incident which caused me to return home with a little more haste. 64 miles round trip on the odometer when i got back at the house.

A few hours later i started off to the pines again, and on Church Road i stopped here at Dr.Still's office, taking a pic of this sign next to the office.

Then off to the other Friendship with this pic.

Off then to rt.532 where i finally got my Chatsworth Lake pic.
IMG_0093_Medium_.jpg

Onto Savoy Blvd. for this pic. The sex plant, looked bare to me.
IMG_0094_Medium_.jpg

I arrived at rt.72 and decided to climb up the old JCRR bridge taking this pic, i recall on my trips to LBI in the 50's the trains passing by, my dad in his early years saw the Blue Comet on it's way to and from AC.
IMG_0096_Medium_.jpg

This is a pic of old rt. S 40, the old way to the coast, my dad use to travel on it.
IMG_0097_Medium_.jpg

I then went to Wells Mills County Park, talked with Cliff Oakley for a while, i was
suppose to meet German there also but because of my morning incident i did not arrive til 3:40, they close at 4:00., he left already for the day.
IMG_0098_Medium_.jpg

Then off to the Albert Brother's Home Site, this is one of two foundations that i seen there.
IMG_0099_1_Medium_.jpg

Back in the car again, taking this pic of the Old Ironsides Gun Club.
IMG_0101_Medium_.jpg

I then proceeded to take a pic of the Cedar Bridge fire tower ruin.
IMG_0102_Medium_.jpg

Then it was off to Cedar Bridge, taking a pic of this sign on Cedar Bridge Road.

This is a pic of another Cedar Bridge ruin fire tower site.

Now to the Bridge site.

IMG_0104_Medium_.jpg

I had to visit one more site i wanted to take a pic of, the Reevestown Cemetary, while getting out of the car a person called out my name, when in view it was Guy and his daughter Jessica. A pic of the cemetary
IMG_0107_Medium_.jpg

Guy and me chatted it up for a while then it was time for me to return home. what started out as a almost disastrous morning ended up being a great afternoon.

As i stated earlier i needed to do a reshoot of two pics from Saturday, being the ones of the Dr. Still and Friendship signs, i then went on a little journey into the pines, this is a pic of a marker i found.

A gun club in Wheatland or Pasadena.
IMG_0114_Medium_.jpg

Time to go home, on the way home, i took this last pic.
IMG_0116_Medium_.jpg

The moral of this two day combined outing is, don't leave your camera battery at home, shoot the sign pics right the first time, and don't get stung by a bee which i am allergic to.

Jim, please take notes on how to properly tour the pines in style. I envy you out there on bright, dry, sunny summer days. I plan to get a nicely equipped vehicle and do the same when I retire. More so to the wild areas, yes, but still, it's all good. Ain't it?

Good stuff, James. I haven't been up Cedar Bridge way yet, but plan to go soon. Where are those red buildings near Friendship? I've been through there and all I saw were the ruins at the crossroads, and the new bridge.

That Yota of yours is as nicely equipped as I would want for the big woods.
It will probably still be running when you retire.
As much as I dislike foreign anything, you can't seem to kill them Ginsu trucks. Both of my sons have them.
However, I will never buy one (American pride) and you will still be seeing me in one of my F-350's when I retire. :)

Scott,

I like a man who honestly and unabashadly states his position, wheresoever the winds may blow; be they fair or furious in one favour or another. I hope to see your F-350 growling through these rugged and lovely pines in my golden years. Nay, even well into the next few decades and beyond.

Well, say what you want about Toyota, but the Hilux (which is the name of the Toyota pickup outside the USA) is one of the best vehicles ever made.

Top Gear even turned one into a boat:

And you can even watch the episode:

Wow. A Pine Barrens Adventurer's Dream, a four by four to go to places that i would like to go to but can't, a motor on the back, i would rather have a merc though, to go through some of those green swampy trench washouts on Mount Sandy Ridge Road on Monday to go to Jemina Mt.

Wouldn't have gotten to the mount though if it wasn't for those high and dry go a rounds. First time i ever took the road from Mount to Jemina, always use to come in off of Hampton Gate Road, or Tuckerton Road, or Old Stage Road.

Thanks Mark. This is the other Friendship, to get there, take rt.70 to New Road, if you are coming from Red Lion Circle,( rt.206 ), make a right at the first traffic light on rt.70 east which is New Road, take to Powell Place road make a left on Powell Place Road, proceed to Fox Chase Road making a right hand turn onto Fox Chase Road, make a right on Fox Chase and up the hill on the left hand side is the other Friendship.

Careful though, you cannot visit those buildings they are on private property.

Thanks for the tip, Jim. I'll be down there this Sat., so hopefully will get a chance to swing by.

Here's my Toyota for the gallery :).

I understand your love for the F-350, RednekF350. If you can't afford an actual cabover Mac or fit one in your driveway, the F-350 is the next best thing.

But lest there be some doubt in the minds of onlookers, Toyota makes the best trucks in the world ;).

Sex plant? Can you 'splain that?

Just to add a bit more 'splaining:
The old rail through chatsworth used to be diverted to the sex plant and from the looks of it, I guess it was a major load in spot for goods. In subsequent years after it's abandonment it became a graphitti magnet particularly for really weird looking phallic symbols and likenesses (kind of). Either the word "sex" or "sex plant" was spray painted largly on the building and it has since been known by that name. It was featured in Weird NJ and, probably as a result of that, is now fenced off for the most part.

It has been a while since I have been there but I suspect that most of the sex produced there has primarily been in the imaginations of bored, doped up teenage boys.

Keep in mind that, according to cars.com, Toyota has three out the top ten vehicles made in the USA with the most American-sourced parts. However, #1 spot goes to Ford F-150.

Actually my 97 F-350 is a regular cab 8' bed and goes down any trail that your wang chung truck will. :)
It will do it while carrying an FJ and towing one behind it. :)
It sold for $19,800 brand new in October 1997, which I know is a lot less than your wang chung. :(
I ordered it with a 5 speed manual with a creeper, 4.10 limited slip running gear and that's it.
No bells, no whistles not even AC
My 02' is a crew cab with an 8' bed, a 6 speed manual with a creeper and a 444c.i. International diesel. It gets better mileage than any full size truck on the road. (20-21mpg)
It too will go down any trail I need it too and carry 5 friends and 3600 lbs of fun gear. Try putting 3600 lbs of crap in your FJ .
Sorry for the rant.
I am 49 and was raised by a father (now deceased) who was a very proud WWII Veteran.
His answer when someone ask him why he would not buy a Jap vehicle was always the same: "I spent 4 years of my life trying to kill'em, why would I buy their cars?"
Something that was engrained at an early age that I never forget.

Yeah, my Dad was the same way. What's more, he's a graduate of GM Institute who worked in suspension engineering for Cadillac in Detroit for years. He now drives a Volvo.

The answer to your Dad's question is: because the U.S. vehicles fall apart. My Dad's last caddy was sold after the shift lever broke off in his hand.

On trucks Ford still does a good job, and so does Chevy.

Yeah, ten years covers a lof of inflation. You can get damn near 2 FJs for the price of a well-equipped 2007 F-350. A guy down the street from me has one with... I think a Cummins in it... cost him nearly $50k.

It too will go down any trail I need it too and carry 5 friends and 3600 lbs of fun gear. Try putting 3600 lbs of crap in your FJ .

On the other hand, I can spend the $25k that was left over on a second FJ, and still put 5 people in the first one, and 500 pounds of gear on top :)

Not really comparable trucks, obviously. But if I wanted a pickup I would get a Tundra. I've owned two Fords, and I'll buy another one when Chairman Bill gives me a check for the full retail.
