I tested that in the lab, and while it does work as a repellent, as it wears off, it actually becomes an attractant.

I don't know what it is that's the attractant, it's a very difficult test to do, believe it or not, so we didn't really work on the ingredients.

Aside from all the marketing hype on that page, it appears to be 30% DEET which isn't so different from Deep Woods OFF which is 25% DEET. I have completely satisfied myself that DEET doesn't keep ticks away from me, but your mileage may vary.
If you're a DEET fan, check out Deep Woods Sportsmens OFF. It comes in a 1 oz a pump spray bottle but is 98% DEET. I tried some and found the way it felt and smelled very unpleasant, but again, we're all different so it might be worth checking out. I'll give this stuff a try,the changing from alcohol to water does seem interesting,never been a big deet fan,the 98% deet is too strong an odor like you say,there is always the money back guarantee.
