Yes Heart thing

It is very obvious to me that you need a new cardiac doctor.
Please have your current doctor read this immediately:

Trappist Fans

I first had this beer while dining at Monk's Cafe ( http://monkscafe.com/ must go if you have never been) in Philadelphia last year. I am a huge fan of Abbey/trappist ales and this is at the top of my list.

"Water, pumped up from a depth of 150 meter is the basis of all St. Bernardus beers. This water is not only the purest but has also a historical background. Scientists have proved that the water that is pumped up now, is originating from rainfall from the time of Jeanne d’Arc.
The water seeped to Watou through a pervious stratum of sand from the St. Omer area in France.
After brewing, the beer is maturing in a natural way and subsequently bottled unfiltered.
By adding sugar and yeast, the beer gets a second fermentation in the bottle,
carbonating the beer in a natural way.
This gives the beer a beautiful and large froth. "

St. Bernardus Abt 12
From the website
"The absolute top quality in the hierarchy of the St. Bernardus beers. It is also the beer with the highest alcohol content (10.50 %).
A dark ivory coloured beer with a high fermentation.
The show piece of the brewery.
Thanks to its soft and unconditionally genuine aroma, the beer can be smoothly tasted.
The Abt has a very fruity flavour."

There is some slight fruit in the mouth, more spices than fruit. The high alcohol adds a splendid sweet bite to the end notes. I pigged out on figs and a heavy brie and drank myself silly.

I am sad to see that almost three months have elapsed since our last Beer post.
I'll fix that.

I just wanted to note that a lot of the winter ales are on the shelves right now.
Two of my favorites, Flying Dog K9 Kruiser and Boulder's Never Summer Ale are at Canal's in Berlin.
I have Pinelandpaddler to thank for introducing both of them to me.

Drink up and enjoy this wondrous season.

Souther Tier's Old Man Winter is a good one. Has anyone had Lancaster's winter ale?

I'm currently drinking an Oscar Blues Gubna. Excellent imperial IPA. If you have a low budget, its a good beer to buy. Only $16 a four pack!

Ouch.
I'll have to sample the Southern Tier. Their IPA is really good.
I am still hvaing trouble nailing down six packs of Racer 5. Canals only carries the 25 oz. bottles. Hops and Grapes in Glassboro carries sixers but was out last time I went there.

They have sixers of the Racer 5 at White Horse Liquors in Absecon.

While we're on the subject am i the only one that finds it mind boggling how many people just accept the mass produced cheap stuff-swear by it even-despite it's oviously being inferior taste/quality?I started noticing an improvement in the stores as far as a variety of quality brews available a good 15-20 years ago but it seems folks are still slow to wake up to this......Sorry if this point was brought up already but No way am i gonna read 53 pages of this thread, lol

There is a distinct danger of people appearing snobbish if they look down on us "cheap beer" drinkers. I drink both mass-produced and craft beers, but do drink much more Miller High Life than anything else. I like the drinkability and low alchohol content. I drink what I want, and I often mix it up. Tonite, I had one Miller, and one beer that marks me as "the most interesting man in the world".

Ha ha yeah those are great commercials right? I strongly recomend their(Dos Equis) 'especial' brew(green bottle).

Definitely the first to admit I'm a 'beer snob'......
Unlike you bobpbx, most of the folks I was referring to seem uninterested/unaware of all the less-advertised quality products out there.

Btw is 8 am too early to pop a top?lol

You misunderstand, my Pine Beerens brother. It isn't the beer-drinker we beer snobs look down upon (necessarily); its the beer itself we look down upon! :)

At least my two sons drink good beer and belittle those who do not.
I feel as if my work here on earth is done.
:)

BTW, I was over a friend's house this past weekend and he brought home (3) CO2 sealed growlers from this place in North Carolina:
http://oldemeckbrew.com/welcome.php
Very good ales, especially the Dunkel winter special and their copper ale.
Unfortunately they only have local distribution.
He is having his son-in-law bring him three reloads in a few weeks.
