Has anyone tried Ben’s Tick and Insect Repellent, Wilderness Formula?
My wife decided to buy two cans for $17 to try it out. She read an article somewhere that said it was really good stuff. It’s 30% DEET and 70% questionable materials. I always try to use repel which is 40% DEET.
I’m gonna try it out tonight sitting out back with a cold Icarus. I’ll report back.
The (not Roosay) reference will only be understood by a few old timers here.

Well, here’s my first negative finding. It is almost impossible to get the thing to spray. You have to rotate the cap so that it aligns with the spray nozzle and then push down on the nozzle. It literally needs about 20 pounds of pressure to get it to barely dribble. Maybe it has a prostate. ??

Went to Kenya several years ago and the locals used a 100% Deet version of Ben's. You used to be able to buy it at REI but I'm not sure if it's still available. The locals would get an empty roll-on deodorant bottle and dump the spray in it and use it as a roll-on, usually applying it only on their clothing.

Used the Ben’s Friday night sitting outside the house. Inconclusive because there didn’t seem to be many mosquitoes to start with. It did repel the few that did a fly-by. Used it on the beach yesterday against greenheads and it worked well.

I wouldn’t buy it again just because of the faulty spray nozzle design.

Two weeks ago some friends at the shore gave us some dabs of No Bite Me ointment to fend off the no-see-ums that were driving us insane. That stuff works great but you better like the smell. It is designed to work against black flies and mosquitoes. We will definitely be keeping that on hand down at the boat.
