Driving up 206 past Atsion yesterday I noticed the road to Hampton Furnace was taped off. This morning I drove in from Carranza Rd and found the road to 206 taped off just as you leave Hampton furnace. There's a dirt covered culvert that drains water into the Mullica just east of the Railroad access road. The hole is about 6 feet deep and wide enough to block the road.

BTW there are large puddels on all the roads and the bridge at Hampton Gatewas under water.

I was just driving that way last night from Carranza Road. Was planning on going out to 206 until I noticed that. Didnt stop to look at it since it was dark but was wondering what happened. At least I didnt mind having to turn back and retrace my last 5 miles or so since I dont mind driving in the pines.
Also noticed they dumped and spread some more dirt of parts of Carranza Rd to fill in some of the dips.

Someone mentioned that earlier, and yesterday I went down there and if you have a car I would still be careful. It is much better but if you are a slow driver it may feel like you are getting stuck. It is not hard packed.

Yeah hopefully. For those of you out there that haven't seen it yet here is a picture. It is much deeper then it appears in the picture. I'd say its about 4 feet deep.

That sinkhole is huge, what we need is a good dryspell to get those roads in the pines back in driveable shape.

Interesting hole. It's pretty amazing how roundish it looks on the far side. For us that are "slower than others", what caused this? Water had to be flowing from underneath somewhere, somehow. With that section visably troubled, how does one know that other areas of the road are not a problem?

It looks like a lost town cellar hole. Any bricks in it? :D

I was out there on Sunday afternoon on my mountain bike and it was very smooth, very easy to ride on. I hope it stays that way for awhile.
