Hmmmmm.... went to see a pond and do some winter botanizing this morning. Untouched road going in, "green haze", panoramic pond. Layered up good with warm clothes. Great day to be out.

Al, I looked it up to add to my list. I also have references of it from the past....apparently it's fairly common. If I am correct, it is called Orange jelly, Orange witches' butter or Dacrymyces palmatus. There is another commonly named Witches' butter but it grows on deciduous trees. Good news is, either one can be made into soup. Time to pull out that lichen recipe that I've been waiting to use. hungry?
