Anyone hear the news?
Bill Haines had originally asked for permission to deforest app 200 acres of uplands scrub oak barrens (one of our rarest ecological communities) and wetlands, and somehow it has turned into 1500 acres...it looks as though it will be approved.

He's a private owner in the pines, owned land there for many years. He's buying Sim Place through forclosure.
My understanding is that it is for forestry--not for the scrub oaks, but using pitch pines for wood pulp is now economically feasible.
