I followed a small tributary of Dias Creek yesterday, all the way to the source, which was a perfectly pristine and lovely open seep-swamp. There is something really grand about the small streams here. Unlike the pines, the ground is only about 8 feet above sea level, and because it's a peninsula, the streams are short, slow, and easy to walk in. Here, when you walk, most of the time you have a hard sandy bottom with no sudden drops. You can put your foot down with confidence because there is very little scouring going on like in the pines. Some shots of this creek. Some of the logs crossing this creek have a nice buildup of plants.
