I followed a small tributary of Dias Creek yesterday, all the way to the source, which was a perfectly pristine and lovely open seep-swamp. There is something really grand about the small streams here. Unlike the pines, the ground is only about 8 feet above sea level, and because it's a peninsula, the streams are short, slow, and easy to walk in. Here, when you walk, most of the time you have a hard sandy bottom with no sudden drops. You can put your foot down with confidence because there is very little scouring going on like in the pines.
