Cranberry Harvest - Double Trouble Park

From what I know, 4 days. I'll be there with the family either Sat or Sun, depending on weather. Hope to see some others......

Stopped by DblTrbl today; the tentative start of the cranbury harvest is now the 15th. Andrew, the park naturalist has placed a sign in the centers door window with the dates and will update as necessary. I'd give him a call at the park a couple of days prior, as he put it, 'it's not an exact science'. The bogs are being flooded.

The leaseholders of the bogs at Double Trouble Village are planning to start harvesting on Wednesday, October 15th. It could be sooner or later, depending on how the harvesting of their other bogs go. Once they start, it should take only four to five days to harvest the four cranberry bogs at Double Trouble Village. The three bogs behind the packing house will probably be harvested first, with the back bog last. Saturday October 18th looks to be the better weekend day to go watch the harvest.
Andrew, the park historian, will have the early 20th century packing house open for tours on request that Thursday and Friday and at 10 am, 11 am, noon, 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm on the Saturday. There will be no guided tours on Sunday as DT's interpretive staff will be at Batsto for their Country Living Fair. The harvest information is posted on the door of the Double Trouble Interpretive Center and on the Interpretive Center's voicemail at 732-341-4098.

They should be finished by Friday, after which they'll be harvesting the Jakes Branch section of Double Trouble State Park off Dover Road/Route 530 by South Toms River. (Not to be confused with Jakes Branch County Park)
