Okay the site will not let me upload my two jpegs. Is this something new since Ben did site maintenance?

I was unable to post a .png image the other day and thought that was odd since I don't recall having problems before. I saved it as a .jpg and then it was ok, didn't think to check the file size.

Guy downsized the pics for me and it worked fine but have never had trouble posting 1.2 meg pics before. My camera always takes them at about that size.I have a program that will downsize them for me.I may have to figure out how to use that feature again.

Spent the morning and very early afternoon looking for arrowheads with Al. Jessica may have found a chip from the making of one but we are not sure. Other than that we came up empty. We did have an enjoyable time but Jessica was exhausted from fighting the current. Came home pretty tired and had to rest before eating.

Jessica and Al on the way.

Here are a few points I found years ago.The first two are pottery pieces with a pattern discernible. Both found near Leesburg.Image 8135 is a sugar quartz point found under three inches of water in a puddle in BaconsfField Leesburg.Small fossil visible in it.8136 also found in Bacons Field.8137 found on Kirbys land along Menantico creek down from the ponds.8138 was found exactly on Egg island Point. This upset my Buddy because this was the only trip i found a point and he did not.You can see it's been beat around by the waves for awhile.8140 My friend told me was a drill point.I dug this up and sifted it along a stream near Leesburg.Small but purty. 8141. I found this spear point at work. One of the shiift foremen sold it to me for 25 bucks.A real Beauty.Looks like jasper embedded in an elk antler and bound with epoxy and artificial sinew.Would really like to have seen the base but afraid of breaking the point to get it out of the handle.

That's really interesting Al. It must of given you quite a thrill when you found the first one that was definite the moment you laid eyes on it. Did you think back to the possible creator of it?

Yes that is the exciting part knowing that another human has not handled this tool since someone dropped it or shot it centuries possibly millenia ago.The two I found today were probably knives, the whole one certainly was .the other point half may have been a knife or an atlatl spear point the plow broke. One I put on here is a scraper,I almost threw that away thinking it was just a spall when my friend who is the expert on artifact hunting and always finds at least four times what I do told me ,hey what are you doing? Thats a scraper! Sometimes when the creator of the piece can;t end up getting what they want or if a piec e breaks they will end up making something smaller like a scraper or a bird point or maybe even a fish hook.I found some pottery today as well but nothing big enough to post.My friend last year found a whole pot with 54 boird points sealed inside with hard mud,he was three feet from me when he found it and we were digging in a gravel bar,I found three bird points that probably had fell out of the potmthere were also over a hundred white and prple clam shell beads in the pot (Wampum) and a clay figurine of a broken off foot.,He has also found several clay pipes nearby.

Very interesting. But what's a bird point?

A bird point is just a small arrow head used for hunting birds and small game out on arrow shafts, could be used for deer as well. Many points referred to as Arkansas actually are too heavy for arrows but are actually spear points or gelato cart points.

Found this today in Stow Creek twp.My buddy found a knife twice this size six feet away right after I found this and he found three more complete points field walkin (This and his knife were found on a beach (mine) and in a bluff (His). He also found a gorgeous adze on another beach but that was in Salem Cpunty.I"ll post pics of his once he posts em on facebook. This one i found was found while I was on my hands and kness hand raking reeds off the beach.I looked up toward the bluff face and about six inches from the bluff was this laying right on top.His adze and knife were both found while running his hgands up in tide washed holes in the bluff.
