Used to be a favorite fishin spot of mine.It really pissed me off when they put those two cell towers up.Ruined the view upstream for good.
The cell phone towers were ruining my shots, but as I was getting ready to leave, I realized that if I shot from behind the tall grass I could hide them.

I can plainly see them in your second shot.Their so far away that someone who didn't know the area might mistake them for trees.You could always clone them out of the shot.Problem is my brain can't clone them out when I"m there.
Salem Nuclear, sunset on Monday, February 13. Sometimes I've just got to get out of the Pinelands.
Late afternoon on the Cohansey River/Watershed. Not sure if I'm wandering off the reservation by posting these pictures outside of the Pinelands, but the area feels distinctly south jersey. A hunter told me there are large raptors in this general area and I saw big nests near the top of dead trees, but saw only vultures.
I drove Back Neck Rd to the end, and made forays toward the river when the roads allowed (and weren't private}. Dix WMA looked dry on the map. I was mostly interested in finding water locations along the river, and any swamp or wetlands. As usual I was in a hurry to get to a sunset location, which didn't pan out. But that is a pretty area, and I am sure that I will be back.

Bald eagles are as prevalent as deer flies in that area Jon. I have some pics of a nesting eagle from a few years ago I will try to find. I used to rabbit hunt Dix WMA many years ago and now I groundhog hunt a farm on the north side of the Cohansey a few times a year.
A wild, beautiful and unspoiled area it is.
Check out the Bayside Tract lands throughout the Greenwich area when you go back. You could spend days just doing that.

Thanks for the map Rednek. The pier/bay image was shot at the end of Bayside Rd, but I will definitely check out that area, and the entire Cohansey Watershed area, more thoroughly. I'm sorry that I never hunted. I coached years ago with Joel, who now cuts down my trees. He traps and hunts everything from blackbirds to muskrat to red fox. He told me yesterday that dark muskrat meat tastes better than anything I've ever eaten.

Thanks Ben. You are correct the Pier/Bay and Cohansey shots are HDR, the Dorchester Trestle shots were just processed in Lightroom. Coincidentally I read the Nat Geo photographer rules a few weeks ago, and they allow HDR, composite, and stitched panorama. Maybe they'll give me an assignment! Or not.

MM, I believe you are correct. The road I went down had a plaque that indicated state control, I glanced at it and drove in. I did not see the shipwreck, but now feel like I need to go back and fully explore along the river, Dix WMA, and the Bayside Tract lands on Rednek's map. I keep a running list, and print maps, of locations to photograph (including some future Tulp hikes, thank you), and you and Rednek have just added a very large new area to it.
