Has anyone paddled the EHR from Winslow WMA to Penny Pot? Or the section from RT 54 to Penny Pot?

We've paddled the river from 8th Street to Lake Lenape...but haven't done the upper part. Not sure if we ever will, just wondering what that section of the river is like.

I did it from Winslow road to Piney Hollow Road a few years ago. One of the guys had a chain saw and we needed it. We cut some trees out and there was a lot of portaging. We had a good time, but it was a lot of work. The area is very beautiful.

Egg Harbor River?

Let's qualify that: The Great Egg Harbor River (as opposed to the Little Egg Harbor River). Sorry, had to.

But no, I've not gotten to paddle those upper stretches yet. I hope to one day.

Kevinhooa paddled that portion last year: http://forums.njpinebarrens.com/f14/kayaking-upper-great-egg-harbor-river-6367/

sorry, live near here and have alway referred to the river as ehr. well, i read the thread about the trip...it solidified my assumptions about that section of the river. we are familiar with what can be seen from the roads and trails. i think when i was younger i might have tried it....now i'm not sure the bones are up to the task.

back in the '80's, my brother and a friend canoed the hospitality from coles mill rd to the gehr and then to the bay. i think he said it took them a week. they needed a chain saw and pruners. was a brutal trip, but alot of fun.
