All,
If you saw the post where Bob invited anyone along for a 5 mile hike of the Parker Preserve today and you thought about coming, you should have acted on that thought. It was an interesting and eventful day.
We met at 9AM with the intention of completely traversing the outer edge of the bogs off of 532 which were at one time owned by Johathan Godfrey. Our first stop was the bench along the reservoir where we watched an amazing sight. If you had been there you would know what that was. Here is Jessica doing just that.
Bob photographing some Asters.
A view from my camera.
A very nice size pine tree.
Can you guess what that is in the very center of the photo sticking up above the trees?
Bob noticed this semi new path blazed through the woods, and we obviously could not pass by without checking it out. We just had to!
After a short walk we discovered this which Jessica had to examine.
A slight fear of heights.
While researching the trip after learning of it from Bob, I went to historicalaerials.com to look the place over. I always like to find thing that are still there today. After scanning around a little I noticed a few buildings from 1963 that might still be there, so I could not pass up going there. After finding a few ruins of old buildings, we finally came to one still intact.
Jessica took the initiative and barreled right into it.
A few other views. Jessica was already in there and we did not hear any screaming
The property line in that area is erratic, and this property is or was owned by someone else. Many years ago this fence and sign were placed there. Can you see this fence keeping out a rabbit?
We ate lunch in the shade along an old blueberry field, and then headed out for the final push to the end. On the route I noticed on my GPS we were coming to a property corner, and again I just had to check it out. I found this damaged concrete monument.
A panaramic of the place.

A wonderful day that may have been the highlight of the year. You all missed out on Bob’s call to join in. You may not want to miss his call when it comes again.
