I am not a hiker. Like as not you will never see me on a 30 mile, 20 mile, or perhaps even a 10 mile hike. I applaud those here that do. I applaud their vigor and their stamina for that which is their passion. But I do like a good Walkabout.

Fall... This is my time. I feel it not even needed to describe it's wonder.
I accept that the other seasons exist and all that comes with them. I know that in my smallness I exist within them as well. This time however triggers a thing in me. An awakening while so many things are going to rest.
With it comes my Walkabouts. However simple or complex, a good walkabout clears the mind and enriches the whole. I am fortunate to live in an arena of the Pines where a good walk is just outside my door.

Today marks my first Season walkabout. This eve, my son Jason ( three + years of age and inexaustable in his stamina and wonder ) and my Black Lab Shadow ( Eight years + of age and well for it ) took to walking. We enjoyed the company of the horses following the fenceline of the pastures behind us whilst we headed to woods. We were targeted and had many the fly-by of bats jaunting about. The Quarter moon over the back woods was a wonder in itself. It was quiet and even my son seemed to take in in stride and in quiet as if he knew this marked a beginning for the season. All in all an unremarkable walk save the fact that it was ours, and it was good.

Ya!

Adam has very good taste in music.

I was surprised to learn this year that Duane Allman did the slide guitar on "Layla". Or should I say surprised but not surprised.

Derek and the Dominoes was a great collaboration as was Blind Faith.....Short lived...that's what was good about it.... Some bands from the era didnt know when to quit and produced garbage at the end of their careers...Beatles,Zeppelin and the list goes on and on...............
