Yesterday (Monday) I noticed a great deal of smoke coming from west of 206 in the Medford area (approx.) and tonight I noticed that Medford/Jackson road was closed off. Did anyone hear of a fire in that area?

I heard there was a fire in Howell along route 95 on the news. Suprising considering all the rain we've been getting lately.
All prescribed burning. The fire in Howell was also a prescribed fire that was incorrectly reported as a fire to the news media. This time of the year, the fuels dry out very quickly after a rain (as compared to summer). Humidities drop, winds kick up and a warmer spring sun heats the ground. We could get a .25" of rain in the morning, then a major fire late in the afternoon if conditions are right.
Rumor has it that if rain totals stay low today (03-19), the large presrcibed burning project around the Warren Grove Bombing range will start Thursday or Friday.

there has been one of those big lighted construction signs up on the medford end of medford/jackson rd telling that it would be closed. Mount construction owns the sign and has been 'winning' all the road construction projects in the town for a awhile now. I figured they were going to pave it for those big McMansion in the old boy scout camp so they could exit the other way to Atco or were replacing a culvert under the road or something.
