A few questions re the Franklin Parker Preserve
* Looking to verify something I read, (https://npgallery.nps.gov/pdfhost/docs/NRHP/Text/79001477.pdf), that an earlier name for Chatsworth was Shamong Station.
* Is the Jonathan Godfrey Tract the same thing as the Goodwater Run?
* Is the Franklin Parker Preserve wholly located within Chatsworth?

I tried to nail down whether the FPP is wholly in Chatsworth, but since it's not incorporated (Chatsworth), who is to say what its bounds are?

Chatsworth is in Woodland Township and I assume it is just the village itself. I recently processed the whole USGS dataset of ~80,000 "governmental units" and don't see anything there for Chatsworth, just Woodland Twp (and that dataset does include unincorporated communities).

Anyway, since I had all the boundary data, I threw this together very quickly. Clearly the Parker Preserve is not "within Chatsworth". But it's not quite even "within Woodland Twp. Part of it is in Tabernacle Twp.

And this little triangular corner South of the blue line here is actually in Washington Twp

Also kind of interesting to note that little outlying triangle in the Northwest, which is part of Parker.

That's odd Boyd, I don't see that triangle on NJCF's map. The one in your upper NW area. But it does note the new purchase to the east you don't have.

Yes, part of the Parker preserve is in Tabernacle Township. This map shows the boundaries of the PP on the left and the right side is Google showing the boundaries of Woodland Township. The blue arrows point to the portion in Tabernacle.

This would put the "exclave" roughly here, I think?

Just noticed it is also marked as part of the preserve on your 2020 topo, Boyd.

This shows it also. The blue line is the exact division line between Woodland and Tabernacle. Evething between there and the orange is the PP in Tabernacle.

I used NJDEP openspace data from 2020. Here's the location of that NW area, shown in magenta (actually not a triangle when you zoom in, LOL).

Here's all the metadata. It's actually pretty big - about 23 acres

Can that section of the preserve be accessed without crossing over private property?

I can't view who owns this one in purple. The parcels to the east and west with the access roads definitely look to be privately owned, though.

To answer question number 2, yes the Jonathan Godfrey property is on Goodwater Run. This is a 1919 map from Beers Reality who owned the Jones Mills tract. Godfrey was related to them but did not even live in NJ.

Godfrey's property is the current PP property on 532 near the Ammon nursery.

It doesn't look like it, based on Street View (July 2021). There look to be two access roads back there and both of them have no trespassing signs posted. The one to the west has the sign for the Antler 20 hunting club. The one to the east has a gate across it.

On the other hand, maybe they are public roads anyway - most here are familiar with individuals getting away with putting up gates across them regardless!

Well, there you go. From your own site Boyd. Did you do that last night?

I did that in 2017. So, if it's not on the NJCF map then they are rather behind the times.

I posted a link above to my 2020 map which shows the same thing, although it used the newest NJDEP openspace data. If you look at the metadata I posted, it was "preserved" in 2005.

Not sure why we are so fixated on this little chunk of the Parker Preserve... but I'll play.

For starters, the openspace database is WAY off (about 200 feet). Here are tax parcels along with the openspace data (green shading) and the error is obvious. You can also see it on the screenshot in my previous post if you look at the parcel lines.

Here's some data on the parcels, I have blurred out private names just in case someone is a public official. But I left the deer club label and another that is care of the State of NJ (is that something that reverted to the state because the tax wasn't paid?). A bunch of those parcels don't include any owner data. You'll need to click on this to see it full size.

Finally, here are the parcels overlaid on the newest NAIP aerials.

Now, here's the thing. I swear, we've discussed this exact location before. I think it was a thread about lakes and fishing, and how to access them. I recall making some similar maps of parcels and posting in that thread.
