Just thought I'd share that I took the plunge and purchased a digital SLR a few weeks ago. I finally finished reading the manual and taking a couple photos. My main reason for getting one was to expand/add references to my paintings. Canon Rebel. Basic model. Many thanks to those who shared their opinions about makes and models with me.
Anyhow, I spent a whole day wandering close to home and taking shots just to see what I could capture. The frog I saw this morning was my favorite (zoom)!

This cordouroy road actually exists from about 100+ years ago when loggers crossed the creek to harvest timber out of the cedar swamp behind the seaport. Low tide.
