just caught a bit of hurricane schwarts winter forecast . he predicted that december was going to be colder than january and february. thought that was odd ? he also said less snow than last year, guess we will have to wait and see

Did that a couple months ago, before my back surgery. Knew I wouldn't be in shape to be crawling around after and didn't want to risk the freezing weather coming in before I could winterize.

It wasn't bad out there today. The wind gusts were strong, but it didn't seem that cold to me. The cold comes tonight. But there were plenty of people camping for the weekend at Bass River State Forest. Some RVs, most of the small "lean-to" shelters were taken, and a few brave folks in tents.

Tomorrow (Sat) is the "Batona 50", a 53-mile run of the entire Batona from Ong's Hat to Bass River, 53 miles, in 12 hours or less. Last year's winner did it in 7 hours 11 minutes (average speed 7.4 miles per hour, or about 8 minutes per mile). Since there aren't 12 hours of daylight, that means they will be starting and/or ending in the dark, trying to find those pink blazes by flashlight. Temperature in the low 20s when they start. Just - wow.

That's interesting. But I think it was a different event. Through OCSJ (Outdoor Club of South Jersey), and it looks like they had more time to do it. Maybe walking, not running?
