14 degrees in the woods this morning. I am reviewing my gear and clothes strategies after hiking in for 1/2 mile, then standing relatively motionless in the cold for over an hour.

Yes indeed, cold feet were definitely the main problem today. I ordered a pair of LaCrosse AlphaBurly 800 gram thinsulate boots. With liner socks to wick away the sweat and Carhartt Artic Wool socks, I'm thinking that will do it. The Pine Barrens aren't the Alps but they seem to be a couple of degrees colder than surrounding towns.Layers. When we alpine skied, it was a relative short period of exertion when skiing, followed by a long period of waiting in the lift line and then the lift. The hardest part was keeping the feet warm.

Why don't you buy those iron-oxidizing heating pads? It's worth a try. I use them all the time for my hands, and sometimes my toes. I have poor extremity circulation./
I bought a pair of cabelas boots this year and I will tell you they are the best boots i have ever bought. 3 differnt insulation zones. They are the most comfortable,Warm and easiest to get off rubber boots i have ever owned. A sock liner and thermal sock i was able to sit in my stand all morning Thursday and never got cold at all.
