Anyone know where to send the pictures to,too help track where the golden eagle Has been seen on the East Coast. From what I understand it is a very rare sighting that I encountered today.

Congrats Tom, I take it your picture is your avatar. Although not a rare sighting, they are not common. The Cape May Hawk Watch recorded 13 in 2017, the top count was 38 in 1996. It is very late for migration, which occurs in Oct/Nov. The one you saw may have found a home in NJ. I do not know of anyone that is keeping sighting records as it is not endangered, but you could fill out a report at this link;

http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/ensp/rprtform.htm

or contact Kathy Clark of the Endangered and Nongame Species Program at Tuckahoe WMA.

This link is from HawkCount for NJ Audubon's Cape May Hawk Watch totals, the watch begins 9/1 and ends 11/30 each year at Cape May Point SP.

There are a number of watches in the state, the link shows the list. Each keeps a separate count.

Wecome to the site Tom! To post a picture, click the "Upload File" button, then browse to find the file on your computer. For best results, you should re-size the picture before uploading, full resolution digital photos don't work very well here. Generally speaking, it's best to re-size them so they are no more than ~1000 pixels wide.

I have seen a Golden for the last two years on the Maurice River at "Indian Head" where the confluence of Muddy Run and the Maurice meet. That area is east of the Cumberland County Landfill. One of my paddling group works for the state and periodically visits water treatment and landfill sites. I've been told that there are those at the CC landfill who also see the Golden from time to time. It may be feeding on seagulls instead of geese or maybe just the small rodents there. Had never seen one before two years ago. Plenty of Balds though!
