In the front matter of some books is a page for acknowledgements. If I had included one in my new book, THE STORY SHELL, I would have titled it Gratitude. And it certainly would have taken more than a single page.
To that peerless pair, Whip and Manumuskin; to fellow-hikers Ed, Teegate, and Turtle; to fellow-celebrants at the Pic; and to many Forum members I have not met, I can only say a heartfelt thank you.
Y’all have provided me with information, inspiration, and encouragement. Perhaps most important, you have kindled in me a love for the Barrens. Inevitably, a story grew -- about a heroic Pine Barrens Treefrog -- and it became a series: Tales of Friendship Bogs.
I will be visiting the Barrens during most of April and have brought the new book with me. Any Forum member who wants one is entitled to a free copy while I’m here. (Just e-mail your request to Turtle.)
If you’re between six and eight years old, you’ll really enjoy it! That’s the word from one of my favorite reviewers.
BTW, check out my website articles about the Barrens -- you’ll see photos there by Whip, Bobbleton, Ed, and Teegate.

P.S. My apologies to Bob: I don’t think my illustrator got the dangleberries quite right. Please make allowances for artistic license.
