I am enjoying these posts immensely...:D

Guy in the article they called it a "Scotish" cemetary. Did they mean Scottish? Look for remnants of plaid clothing sticking out of the ground. Or listen for bag-pipes after midnite.

Yea...I wrote the wrong thing. I will change it. And the next time I am there I will listen carefully and follow the sound :) The clothes most likely are gone.

when you explain to your women that orbs are paranormal things and suddenly there dust..she questions your knowlage...thats bad

Ok, first off 99% of orbs can be explained away as dust (or moisture as Guy says.) Several weeks ago, my wife and I were driving through the Forked River Mountains at night. We stopped, waited for the dust cloud that my Jeep had kicked up to blow past us, and she took a picture with her digital camera. It was full of orbs.

Second of all, if you're serious about ghost hunting, it's a good idea to keep a very skeptical mind about things. 99% of "hauntings" and whatnot can easily be explained away scientifically. It's the other 1% that is the truly interesting stuff, and the measure of a good paranormal researcher is being able to tell the difference.

Finally - I am pretty lenient about what goes on here, but please do me a favor and knock off the cursing. We get a lot of .k12 traffic to the site and I don't really want to put off any visitors that may be offended. I really don't want to have to start censoring stuff so please have some restraint.

I was into the whole ghost hunting thing a few years back. Going to old graveyards, taking pics, recording for EVP, etc. I started to get a lot of orbs in my pictures and started wondering. So what I ended up doing is taking a hand full of sand, throwing it in the air, then letting it settle for about 5 seconds, then taking the pic. They were full of orbs. So I agree that they are in most cases just particles in the air. I hear that the ones that look like they are in motion with a trail behind them are the ones to look for.

I have a few photos with "orbs" that I've taken. I've had so many alleged ghost hunters and "psychics" tell me my pictures have activity in them that I've started to put captions making fun of them, such as "OGFM teh 0rbz!!!1!!" The only pic that's intrigued me at all is one I took at Brooksbrae on Halloween night...could've been anything though. I really don't think I have any interest, or even believe, in any of that stuff anymore. There's just so much crap out there anymore that's so easily disproved.

Who knows, there are a few deaths that occured back there according to things that i've read. Something about a couple that burnt to death, while looking after the place long ago.

That prompted me to buy one of those nifty digital voice recorder thingies last year and bring it there. Well, it's still sitting in the package, never touched. Just don't have the motivation to toy with that stuff anymore. Maybe it's something you just grow out of, I don't know.

Yup. The caretakers. Got blamed on the RR workers that were on strike at the time.

That's a legend that got twisted around a bit. Beck goes into the more perverted version - that the husband died first (before the fire) and said that if hell was as bad as he heard, he'd make the well boil - and it did, after he died. He then said that the wife died in a fire that was to cover up a robbery because she used to flash around how much money she had. It's in the "Pasadena, not California" chapter of Forgotten Towns (I think.)

I think you have me confused with someone else.

Nope, I know who you are. :) You run the Jersey Devil 4WD message boards. My comment was not directed at you or your site. I'm just speaking about the various Pine Barrens related discussion boards that follow the same general format as mine. Really, the only other board that I like is Stu's, but I only post here. I don't want to come off like I'm using other people's venues to advertise this site. Plus I barely have time to post here.

My statement is just my opinion - nothing more, nothing less.

*shrugs* That's what sigs are for. I put my link in my sig, but I never push my site in any other way. If it really bothered anyone, I'd remove it without question.
As long as the person is contributing, I wouldn't care if they link themselves in their sig. I hate hit & runners; I delete them.
