My wife and I and the dog hiked a few miles along the east bank of the Batsto on Sunday.
It was one of the quitest days I can remember in the pines. It was cold and gray with absolutely no wind and there was a lot of moisture in the air deadening the sounds.
The skies were gray and it felt like snow, which it did later that night.
I took the camera but I only took 2 pics because everything looked so lifeless.
Last night I took my normal walk through the woods right here and it was again so quiet I could hear only myself breathing.
