I was wondering the same myself but figgered he had his reasons. One could be that Deer Mice are know to carry Hantavirus.Don't know if it has occured around here or not but I know it has in the southwest.
The cameras work very well at night Guy, that's when mine gathers the most pics.If they do it at night the camera would be useless anyway.
I'd love to put one of those hunter-type motion detector cams, but I don't have one and I'm not in a position to go out and buy one just for this. Given the guesses of what you guys think it is, do you think they're in the holes most of time or would they be out most of the day, only to return at night? I really don't think it's ants, because I've not seen even one ant by that area as much as I've looked.

If you set it very close to the hole I think the mouse motion would trigger it.For something that small? Will they set it off?
Just pulled my chip on my cam this afternoon. Picks up squirrels at 8' very nicely. If you set it very close to the hole I think the mouse motion would trigger it.
Mine is very sensitive but I haven't targeted mice yet.
