I miss the Pines

I've been living in the Big Sky country for 3 months now. It's beautiful out here, but my heart still tells me that it belongs in the Pines. But as the old saying goes, distance makes the heart grow fonder. In the meantime, I will be dreaming of those little rivers of New Jersey.

Here's to the Mullica!

Where are you exactly? Tell us more about it. How different is it? What is it you have noticed that is very different; both good and bad....bob.

Hi Bob.

I'm in Missoula.

First the good:

Terrain - Mountains and rivers galore.

Culture - People are generally friendlier and the mode of living is generally more laid back.

Economic - No sales-tax and cheap rent.

Now the ugly:

Environment - A grossly polluted river runs through town and pollutants tend to be trapped in the valley air.

Economic - The job market flat out sucks.

All in all, I'm glad to have come here, as it has been the experience I have long sought to enjoy. Canoeing down a Montana river with white cliffs and badland formations straddling the water and mountains in the horizon has been a matchless experience. Yet, all the while I've been longing for those mystical little streams in the Pines.

Thanks for the update. I'll kick the rest of the state out so we can have the pines to ourselves. If I can, I'll visit the world but die in the pines.
