I have been using a Panasonic ZS20.

I have a Panasonic DMC-ZS20 for my always carry; most happy with it. Very good video as well, plus a lot of other stuff I don't use, like GPS. Got it last year, probably a newer model by now, should make it a good price.

If you don't mind spending the money, the Sony Cybershot Rx100 II is an incredible camera.

I was looking at the Rx100, but think the 3.6x zoom a little short. The Canon G16 looks good at 5x.
My ZS20 was nice IF there was a lot of light, so I want to head towards a faster lens and larger sensor.

My wife got a Nikkon CoolPix, she's been very happy with it, takes some nice shots.
