Is your UNIT Still Working?

Well this guy's is!
Anyone familiar with the swamp monster along the Sleeper and who has read the research of the crane, knows it was a UNIT crane.
They are no longer in production.
I was down in Cape May today driving around Bree Zee Lee where I keep my boat and found a working UNIT.
The marina is driving some new timber piles and replacing bulkheading with vinyl sheet pile.
The UNIT is truck mounted and is used for pretty much everything including jetting piles and driving sheeting.
It has a fresh coat of paint and a well maintained Detroit under the covers.

Thought for just a second there you were trying to take this site to an adult rating.
Very nice find. Isn't it great to see old stuff still working and actually being put to use . My dad has John Deere tractors from the 40's that just do their thing like day one. Nothing made today is meant to have that kind of durability.
You mentioned the driving of pilings. It brings to memory a piece of machinery that looked like some cannibalized version of that I saw as a youth used by Clyde Birdsall in Sweetwater to set his bulkheads. The old folks used to get the most out of a machine for certain.

That's her.
She and I do everything together. Except hunting.
She is one of 4 girls and all four love to fish and aren't afraid to play in the mud.
Her sister Barabara is working this very morning on the Iditarod in Anchorage as a volunteer!

I will be back in CM in a few weeks to pay my bill and I will check to see if I can get a serial no.
They still have a lot of work to do before the marina opens.
I don't remember if the Swamp Monster has UNIT on the counterweight or not.
If I get a chance before chigger season I will check.

Given the settings you both viewed it in, is it possible that a private company in a business related to such owns it and you did both see the same one? Or... how 'bout if there were more than one? Cool.
