PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – On Saturday, the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge will host the annual Cradle of Birding Wildlife and Conservation Festival.
It may be easier to tell you what won’t be at the festival than what will.
“The exhibitors will be engaging people with all kinds of activities,” Friends of Heinz Refuge member Debbie Beer explains. “Things like birding workshops — there’ll be photography, woodcarving, fishing, fly tying, live raptors, exotic birds, dog trials, archery, craft projects.”

And you can’t beat the price.
“This event is totally free,” Beer says.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and there’s a birdathon starting at 7 a.m. for, pardon the expression, early birds.
“The Heinz Refuge is just a wonderful place to come visit, for Philadelphians to get a little nature fix, and it’s really a first class location for wildlife right here in Philadelphia.”

And while you drink the free beer, you can also see and hear the planes roar overhead while you listen to the traffic on I-95. Perfect for a "nature fix"!
