My son loves the woods, but most of the time we go to the mountains or to local spots in Mercer County. He fell in love with the Pine Barrens on our first visit, just like his dad did many years ago. I thought that his sense of wonder was captured just a bit with this picture:

I love to see the innocence of a child and their wonder at the natural world. My 4 year old granddaughter has lived in New York City her whole life. When she visits she is just fascinated by everything in my woods. A few weeks ago she led us on a little hike herself for the first time, choosing the trails and finding great pleasure in sticks, acorns, pine cones and wild cranberries along the way.
