Lake Broyhill?

I think the moral of the story is to rely on my USGS topographic maps; one of those rare instances in life where it is best to trust the government.
We went up the road from Mount to Jemima yesterday. It was labelled as Devious Mt. Rd. on Google Earth and on my buddy's Treo-based GPS software. His unit also showed that we passed west of "Lake Broyhill" and he got a kick out of it when I mentioned this discussion.
i swam across it one day, the deepest part, LOL. it took two days to all the sand,ticks,briers and chiggers off my body

If you go to the NJDEP GIS website and download the 1930 aerial photos of NJ and look just to the East of where maps locate Lake Broyhill, you will see a fairly sizeable pond on the upper stretches of a tributary of the Tulpehocken. Was that "Lake Broyhill"? The world may never know....

You do have a point, though. These photos can be hard to interpret. Do you have an alternative explanation for what we're seeing there?
