There were 2 Navy ships blown ashore into LBI in that storm; the Prescott and the Monssen. The Prescott was a mine sweeper.

I'm a bit late to the conversation, but...Broke Jeep Joe's comment is partially right.

There were two ships blown onto the island during the March '62 storm, but the Prescott (ex USN minesweeper 1423) was not one of them. The Prescott/1423 was blown ashore several months later near Barnegat, it's the ship that was being towed by the Sea King.

Here is a shot my mother took of the two ships in February 1963.
