Thank you for posting this, we were planning to take the family there. After reading that it's a priority.

We were there a few years back for the movie part. Have a great trip, but bring lots of $$. The state park is also worth the time, try to go in the warmer months when the RR Station is open, I used to pass thru there twice a day commuting by train and ferry to first job at Manufacturers Hanover Trust. The state has restored the station, got a tour when they were doing it, massive job.
