Book Signing

Hi Everyone!!

Ok ...I am breaking out in a nervous sweat as I try to post for the first time... Yikes!!! It is worse than getting a tooth pulled!

The book signing is free and open to the public. Yeah!! 3:00- 4:30
This year an artists component has been added. The artists will be in the top part of the dining area from 12:30-4:30 selling their items. pottery..water colors...Bakely works of art...pine needle basketry and a demonstartion.

The dinner started out as a private one so that those who were there
last year or expressed interest had a chance to make dinner reservations.
That deadline is over and now the dinner is open to others too. It is $40 per person or $75 per couple. If any profit is realized it will go to the BCCI. The date is already reserved for next year. The profits, if any, will go to another of my favorite groups.

I hope I have not offended anyone by organizing the dinner the way that I did. I am still in the learning stages!!! Thanks!! Linda

You did just fine and it gets easier with each new posting. I hope you visit frequently and become an active participant here.

I can't imagine that anyone will take offense for how you organized things. This now annual event does a superb job of bringing together authors, artists, and Pines enthusiast in what could be construed as a 1970s-style Pine Barrens love-in.

I commend you for your Pinelands enthusiam and boosterism and that you moved beyond your words and put your thoughts into action.

All,
A very nice event and a fine day for it weatherwise. The artists and such were friendly. There seemed to be more of a presence there than last year.
Jerseyman was a gracious guest host and fine speaker. There did not seem to be one possible book on the region not available if you were looking.
At the dinner I was fortunate enough to be seated with Budd Wilson and Harry Leeds and enjoyed listening to them swap some stories. Moreover was the chance to meet and dine with Guy. He and his wife were very enjoyable to speak with and I look forward to perhaps a chance meeting with him sometime out there in the pines. Never know who you'll run in to.
One particular story teller/singer, Jim Albertson was a joy and a humorous fellow to listen to. Very funny man! Got to see a couple other friends there I don't see often so that was pleasurable.
All in all a good event revolving around a wonderful aspect of our lives as Jerseyans. Jerseyman, you hosted a nice program and Linda, if you're reading... you did good, real good! Be proud of your efforts.

I would have like to talked with Jerseyman more, but leaving time for others is the right thing to do. A signed book made my day, and I started reading it during break at work today. I may finish it in the fall :)

We can’t forget Janet Worrell (Janwor) from the Batsto Citizens Committee who I am always grateful to see and talk to. I regret that I did not buy anything from her but at that point I had made some other considerable purchases that made my wallet quite light. I am very sorry Janet!

A little story about Jim Albertson.....my wife and I was walking past him and he remarked that he was surprised that Bill Gates was attending, which is similar to remarks I always get. We started a conversation and during it the considerable cost of the books I had purchased came up. Just before dinner we walked by him again and he yelled out “buy a book you cheep bastard” which was quite hilarious, and somewhat a surprise.

And George.... I have to say it was a pleasure meeting you and dining with you. You made the evening so much more comfortable and interesting. I was a little out of my element there, and was happy to see you were at our table.

I have been forced to run down the boardwalk in AC because someone yelled Bill Gates was here, and have had waitresses slide in the seat with me thinking I was him, all the while annoying my wife :)

I walked into a Post Office in very rural Vermont and did that cause a commotion :)

All the hellos...and Sundays event

Thanks guys for all the introductions. You do much to make members feel welcome. At times I feel this is an all guy group since I receive few responsives or acknowlegement of any kind. For the few of you that do, I thank you.
As for Sunday's event...I thought it was fabulous! I got to dine with John Pierce and had extensive conversation regarding my upcoming book. His advice is priceless. The speakers were spellbinding to say the least. (Excuse any errors here since I am away from my desk and sitting at Atlantic County Library. No phone lines at home). The variety in the music presented was refreshing.
I got to see some people I hadn't seen in over twenty years! I made appointments and new ties which is always good in life, or should be.
I thank all that were involved and made this a true day to remember.

Sorry not to have posted to this thread earlier, but I spent much of this past week in western Maryland. I had a great time talking with everyone at the event! I hope you enjoy the book, TeeGate; I'm sorry for the high cost, but my acquisition costs were also high due to the book being out of print. At least you followed Jim Albertson's advice! :) Next year, if any are available at all, the cost will be even higher!
