Y-Buc-Bill is a good friend of mine and has more energy at 82 then I have at 49.
Bill is a hunter, trapper and fisherman with the utmost in sportsman's ethics at heart.
This assembly bill is bad news for any sportsman or woman and could have disastrous effects on hunting AND fishing sports in N.J.
I know we have a few hunters and and more than a few fisherman here on this site.
Take some time and get involved.
Thank you Ben for providing this venue for Bill's post.

Scott. Thanks a lot for your kind words. If this Bill were to pass it would take effect Jan.1,2008.Last year the State was richer by $4.3 Billion ,thanks to Hunting,Fishing,Trapping,
Bait & Tackle shops, gas, food and on and on.The anti's are behind this bill and frankly they don't give a damn about our State's economy. We are in the fight of our lives and you are all welcome to come aboard.

All you Piney's better get involved .If Herr Corzine gets his way and bans Hunting,Fishing and Trapping, there will be no need for Wildlife Management Land.Whats to stop that jerk from Indiana from selling off land to build Condos. We have to stop this mad man's madness.Show up at the "WOODSTOCK "of Mullica Hill.

I see it made the paper.Guy

I have tried to follow this some. It seems only part of it lies in the appointments and the other part lies in removing those who's interests are needed to balance issues. Very scary stuff especially when it is masked the way it is. Looking at other alternatives and Ecotourism issues is crap.
The Bear thing, what actually has been done? Anything solved?
The impact on several levels and sublevels people do not think of is tremendous. There are many livings made in many ways from these activities so besides the plain old traditons of Pop & son out there together or Bob getting fresh venison for the family, the impact is immeasurable. The hunting and quite seriously the fishing side... bad. You would see crippling impact on the Jersey Shore financially alone.
While now because of it's high profile I don't see most of this coming to truth, the fact it got this far is scary stuff. When folks don't watch and carefully pay attention, crap like this can creep up on you and become very real, very fast. No one or no group influence nor government should take these priveledges/rights away. Especially in a state as richly influenced by the sportsman's industry as New Jersey.

If this passes then the next to go will be domestic horse riding as that is cruel and unwanted by the horses, and it does not stop there, theses animal rights activists have no boundaries when it comes to this stuff. They value the life of an ant as equal to a human child.

Chris,
Some of the same idiots you speak of put the value of the ant OVER the life of the human child. Freedom of choice but save the whales & such.
OH boy, that was un P/C right?

BobNJ1979,
Dead on brother... They will drive that crap that's never seen a sand road or a Pine branch but look down a fellow with a big ol' F350 who is out there picking up the stuff they don't want to see in their own back yards that is potentially endangering the very beasties they want to save from the hunters.

Bobbleton,
Spoken true.

I'm not a hunter, but I'm certainly not an animal rights activist either. I don't drive an SUV. I own land in the pines adjacent to a WMA. I don't have an opinion one way or the other about this.

If you're upset about this bill then by all means you should get involved politically and see that it doesn't pass. But I don't think name-calling and stereotypes will help your cause, and in fact it may do more harm than good. I'm sure people on the other side of this issue can think of plenty of nasty names and stereotypes for hunters as well.

Why not take the high road and just stick to the issues?

and the tempers are flaring !! . you know, I took an ear full of shit on a NJ kayak club board for "posting this very issue".. I accredited it to the fact that most of the ppl in the club are over sensitive, judgemental and narrow minded. Please, remember this is just a board, we all love the pines and not everything written is to be taken so literally. it's friday, now everyone go have a :guinness: ........that's right...
