Mac Dock Problems

Boyd, and all Mac users,

Two days ago this shadow suddenly appeared in my dock.

Now the dock will not come up unless I invoke Option Command D. I threw out the dock preferences and the dock returned to factory settings, but the problem still persists as does the shadow.

I have 10.6.1 but have had it since the day it was released so I am at a loss as to why the shadow just appeared two days ago.

Any idea's?

I'm on 10.6.1 and I can't reproduce that behavior.

Problem solved. It is hard to imagine but the day this started I replaced the batteries in my wireless mouse. So tonight I pulled out the USB adaptor for it and replaced it with Jessica's and it now works properly! The shadow is gone and the dock bounces like it is on steroids. I then put my mouse USB adaptor back in and it works perfectly. How a mouse can cause this to occur is beyond me.
