Maps of Harleigh Cemetery in Camden

All,

I promised in a post a while back to search my records for the maps from Harleigh Cemetery in Camden, that show the locations of the grave stones of Henry Beck and Arthur Pierce. Tonight I found them while going through my photo's, and I have uploaded them to the "Various" folder in my Gallery. I hope this helps anyone who goes there to find their way to them easily. The third map gives an overview, and the first two go into more detail.

They basically are the maps to show you how to get to Pierce's and Beck's grave. You can get the maps at the office there. Just tell them who you want to visit. Here are the maps I have. Some I think are duplicates.

That was seven years ago and occasionally when this site changes servers the old links stop working. Because of that, many old post are the same way. Plus, the location where my photo's are stored on the site I believe changed around then.

Fortunately, I was able to search out and find them in my scanned folder here in my computer and I have them below. Some may be the same but I will post them all and let you figure that out. They show where Beck and Pierce are located. I believe the X on the map is my relatives so if you go there say hello to her. That would be Anna K. Thompson. That was one of my great grandfathers wives. Really not sure which one as he apparently had many.

I just visited the cemetery. No luck on what I was looking for.

When I went there, the guy at the office pulled out a map, drew on it and gave me a verbal description of what I was looking for.

You just can't find good help these days? I stopped to say hello to Walt Whitman and Nick Virgilio. Way back in the northwestern corner is a veterans area.

13 years after I post on on a thread here about going to visit, I finally made it Wednesday.

Of course, I totally forgot the Arthur Pierce was buried there, so I'll have to go back.

Found the grave of historian Charles Boyer through...

Boyer isn't far from General Sewell.

Yep, stopped to pay my respects to the good, grey poet. Walt Whitman, General Sewell (his grave is seriously impressive), and Ella Reeve Boor (I can't believe a grave in the early 1950s could mention Socialism so many times), were my list of targeted grave to visit. Wandered around a bit to check out other graves that caught my eye too, which is how I wandered into Boyer's grave. Running into Boyer reminded me that Beck was here.

This (along with finally getting a cheesesteak at Donkey's) has given me a taste for exploring Camden more. I'd like to see/photograph the two Cooper homes, the Quaker Meeting house, go back to the Camden County Historical Society (haven't been since I was 15 and helped repaint it as part of one of my friend's Eagle projects), the Barnegat Lightship, and the bridge over the Cooper River with the two towers. I drive through Camden often enough for work (my school is technically part of the Camden Catholic elementary school system, even though we're 6 blocks north of Camden, 2/3 of our students come from North Camden), I just need to actually pull my car over and take pictures..
